REHEARSALS

JAKE SCOTT

(director: Welcome to the Rileys, HBO Voyeur Project, RSA Films).

“Having just spent the best part of 7 weeks in this creative womb

I can attest to the space's incredible versatility. During this time it

became a place of meditation, art studio, photographic workshop,

rehearsal space, music lab, dance studio, think tank and just a great

environment to brainstorm in. IT HOLDS

THE WORK LIKE AN OPEN HAND. GO THERE. SEE IT.

USE IT FOR YOUR STILLS SHOOT, TABLE READING,

REHEARSALS, INDEPENDENT FILM SHOOT, FASHION

SHOW, DANCE PARTY. It has the power, the light, the amenities.

PRODUCERS, YOU WILL LOVE IT!

PHOTO SHOOTS

JEREMY POWER REGIMBAL

(director: Replicas, & Editor in Chief of THE LAB MAGAZINE )

“We shot a video and photo shoot for our LAKE BELL (actress) feature for issue 05 of The Lab Magazine, which is distributed in 20 countries around the world. We chose the space as it is CENTRAL LOCATION, VERY VERSATILE FOR MULTIPLE LOOKS, OFFERING NATURAL LIGHT, LOADS OF SPACE and separate areas for makeup / hair. It was a pleasure to work with Joan & Carlo for this shoot and I’d highly recommend the space for anyone else and look forward to using it again sometime soon.”

THEATRE

MATTHEW GRONDIN

(director: Granite)

"Writing, directing and putting up my first play was quite an experience - probably the most challenging (and, therefore, rewarding) experience I've had as an artist. And I could not have asked for a better home for this project than Joan Scheckel's 6608 Space. The space itself had a life of it's own - very inspiring and palpable. YOU WALKED IN AND FELT SOMETHING. YOU FELT CREATIVITY, YOU FELT THE URGE TO MAKE ART. The expansiveness of the loft allowed your imagination to take off and run wild. I felt I was truly able to create a large stage that comfortably housed the characters of the piece. I cannot tell you how many audience members came up to me afterwards, telling me how amazing the space was and what a perfect venue I had found for the play. In addition to just the space itself, it was a pleasure to have a chance to meet Joan and Carlo. I have the utmost respect for them and what they are creating here in Hollywood. Joan sets such a good example of what it means to be an artist; what it means to support art and create an environment where people are free to dive into their passion and find their own voice. It's truly remarkable. Big thanks to both of them!"

POP-UP DINNERS

GLORY SIMON

(chef)

“In late July 2011, I was standing on Joan's steps talking to her about the pop-up and underground dining experiences I had been working on when she suggested I do my own dinner in the new 6608 space. I was terrified and did not feel at all ready or worthy of cheffing my own 5 course underground dining experience but I accepted the challenge to stand at my edge and go.

ALL OF MY RECENT CATERING EXPERIENCES IN NEW YORK HELPED MAKE IT POSSIBLE FOR ME TO TURN THIS BEAUTIFUL GIANT SOUND STAGE INTO A SUPPER CLUB WITH SEPARATED KITCHEN, DINING AREA, BAR AND THANKS TO THE FURNISHINGS THERE, LOUNGING AREA. IT WAS TRULY INCREDIBLE TO SEE MY VISION COME TO LIFE, starting with forming the kitchen where there was none and finishing with musicians who pulled up chairs and played music at the table while my guests ate their wheat- free, organic, star anise scented apple crisps with passion fruit caramel and freshly whipped raw cream. Thanks Joan and Carlo!”

DANCE PARTIES

D’ARCY FRENCH MYERSON

(event planner)

THE SPACE ENCOURAGES BOUNDLESS EXPLORATION. RAW, OPEN AND EXPANSIVE, IT HAS HOUSED ALL MY EVENTS WITHOUT CREATIVE LIMITATION. Intimate for my overnight film fests, and entirely insulated for 2's and 3's all night soul dance parties.

It allows for infinite possibility.”

FILM SHOOTS

MARY ANN MARINO

(director, executive producer: Park Pictures)

AFTER 22 YEARS IN THE BUSINESS, I KNOW A GOOD PLACE TO SHOOT FROM A BAD ONE. 6608 LEXINGTON IS ONE OF THE REALLY GOOD ONES.  It's a totally user friendly open space with easy access to power, water sources.  Loading in and out was simple through the giant roll up door.  The natural light was gorgeous but blacking it out to control our lighting was easy to do.  The feeling of THE SPACE IS BRIGHT, OPEN AND GIVES ONE A SENSE THAT YOU CAN DO ANYTHING. THE PRICE IS RIGHT FOR CENTRAL HOLLYWOOD! GO CHECK IT OUT!

BIRTHDAY PARTIES

MARIANNA PALKA

(actor/writer/director: Good Dick, Neds)

“My 30th Birthday was one of the most incredible nights of my life! THE ATMOSPHERE REPRESENTED EVERYTHING I LOVE. MY FAMILY, FRIENDS, AND I WERE ABLE TO DANCE ALL NIGHT, SING TO OUR HEARTS CONTENT, CREATE BEAUTIFUL ART, WATCH SCOTTISH FILMS, PAINT OUR FACES, RIDE A MOTORCYCLE, AND NO HOLDS-BARRED CELEBRATE! Thank You for the room to play, be silly and express ourselves, that is what made that evening so memorable.”

CASTING

STEVEN DILLER

(director at Motion Theory)

“The space was perfect for casting a commercial that demanded running and physicality. IT CHANGES EVERYTHING WHEN ACTORS HAVE THE SPACE TO MOVE!
